Frequently asked questions
What exactly is 'answer engine optimization'?
AEO is the practice of optimizing how your brand appears in AI generated answers. Atvelo tracks the four biggest answer engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini. Unlike traditional SEO, it focuses on being mentioned, cited, and recommended inside the model's response, not on getting clicks from a search results page.
How do you query the engines?
We run your prompts through the official APIs and enable each provider's live web-search or grounding tool (OpenAI Responses API web_search, Anthropic web_search, Gemini google_search grounding; Perplexity is always web-grounded). That gives a consistent, repeatable benchmark rather than training-data recall. Results can differ from personalized consumer apps, and we never scrape those apps. See the methodology for the full detail.
Why does my score come with a ± range?
AI models are stochastic: ask the same question twice and the answer can differ. A single scan bounces from that variation alone. So your headline score is pooled over a rolling window of daily scans, with a 95% confidence interval based on the variation among those recent scans. We show that observed variation so you can judge whether a change is persistent rather than reacting to a single scan.
How is this different from traditional SEO tools?
SEO tools measure clicks, rankings, and impressions on a results page. AI engines don't have results pages. They have answers. Atvelo is built for that medium: we measure mentions, citation share, sentiment, and per-engine visibility, none of which traditional tools can see.
What's the free score?
Tell us your company name, category, and a competitor or two, and we'll run a fast web-grounded scan: your composite visibility plus a head-to-head against the competitor you care about, in about a minute. No credit card required.
Does it work for local businesses, clinics, and personal brands?
Yes. Local scans anchor every question to your city, and the questions read the way real customers ask (“chiropractor for a knee injury”, not just “chiropractor”). Practitioner names count toward your score as aliases, since AI answers often recommend the person rather than the practice. A solo consultant, realtor, or clinician can measure their own name the same way, and the recommendations adapt to your business type: review platforms and directories for a clinic, editorial coverage for a product brand, profile completeness for an individual.
What tools analyze brand mentions in AI outputs?
Tools that analyze brand mentions in AI outputs ask AI assistants the questions your customers ask, then measure whether your brand is named, where it ranks, and how it is framed. Atvelo does this across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini with live web search on, and reports the sources each engine cited when it left you out, so you know where to act. Our guide to AI visibility monitoring walks through it end to end.
How do you assess and improve brand visibility in AI answers?
Assessing it means pooling repeated scans into a 0 to 100 score with a confidence interval, broken down by engine and by signal, so a change registers only when it beats the model's natural variance. Improving it means letting AI crawlers read your site, writing in your customers' words, adding structured data, and being present on the sources engines cite. Atvelo measures the first and gives you a prioritized list for the second.
Will my data be used to train AI?
No. We only query the engines about your brand and the prompts you choose. We don't share your tracked queries, dashboards, or recommendations with third parties, and we don't fine-tune any models on your data.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Plans are billed monthly and cancel at the end of the current period, no questions asked, no retention gauntlet.
